I bought this lense several years ago and it has served me well on several cameras — the XTi and 50d. The 50D, of course is a different story because of all its flaws, but this lense is a well-made item that will outlive the camera bodies. It performs very well for action shots and allows you to easily use autofocus for fine-tuning while at the same time, using manual when needed to switch between very far and very near objects more reliably than autofocus. I would have given this 5 stars instead of 4, but I am not convinced that Canon is going to produce reliable high-end camera bodies …
