I use the epson 4870 to scan 120 negatives and I have found it to be excellent – easy to use, well made and gives reliably good results. Recently, I scanned the same negative with the epson 4870, the v500 and the v700 to determine if I should “upgrade” to a newer scanner. I found that there was little if any difference between the scans from the 4870 and the v700 when scanning at high resolution (the scans from the v500 were clearly of a lower quality).
